Toronto is known as a city along the lake, with a beautiful, developing, water front. From the east end to the west end, you will find beaches and parks along the lake shore. This year the Toronto Port Authority and the Waterfront BIA are celebrating the winter season with Winterfest on Toronto’s Waterfront. Toronto’s harbour front will be buzzing with fabulous outdoor and indoor activities, that are perfect for families to enjoy all winter long. If you are wondering what to do in Toronto with the kids, check out Winterfest. Here are a few of the highlights of this event

What to do in Toronto This Winter

what to do in Toronto frostyHoliday crafting –  Head inside the York Quay Building and create your own Christmas tree centrepiece, reindeer ornaments or make a wreath to hang on your front door.

WolfJocks Canine All Star Performances – If you love live dog performances, then this show is for you and your family. Head to the York Quay Building and take in a performance by WolfJocks Canine All Stars. They will be showcasing interactive games, canine agility and dog obedience.

Take a Cruise – Join Santa Claus for a 1 hour cruise, presented by Mariposa Cruises, on the Northern Spirit. Kids can bring along their wish list and have their photo taken with Santa. Advanced reservations are recommended.

DJ skate nights – Outdoor skating has never been so hip. Bring your skates (or you can rent them on site) and dance into the night to the tunes of a live DJ on the Natrel Rink. The rink is situated right beside the lake, it’s almost like you are skating on the lake itself.

Dog Sled Demonstrations – Head to Ann Tindal Park  for daily dog sledding demos. Meet a dog sled team and have your picture taken with the dogs too.

Art Exploration – Be sure to check out the indoor and outdoor art exhibits in and around the Harbourfront Centre. Check their website for a complete listing of the current exhibits. Children love discovering art in this unique environment.
